Buying guide for Xbox One bundles
I wanted to create a guide to help those interested in purchasing an Xbox One, since there are so many bundles, and offers change constantly. I’ll attempt to keep this up to date as the bundles change. This is NOT a comparison to Playstation 4 or Wii U.
To be honest and upfront. I’m a casual gamer in my early fifties and work in the IT field. I’ve had consoles starting with Atari as well as the PS2. The reason for purchasing this console was the new release of Hitman doesn’t work with my current xbox 360. Since I’m not into online gaming I never set my xbox 360 up to the internet. But times are changing. Seems the xbox one is all about connectivity to everything. Not at all a bad thing. Setup was fairly easy from a technology standpoint. Instructions that come in the box are fairly weak. If your not good with setting up electronics or computers you might need some help. It woud also do you good to have a Microsoft account. Once I had everything setup I was able to download my prepurchase of hitman. This took around 40 minutes. Time to download a game will vary depending on your internet speed. I had other things to keep me occupied while this was happening so no big deal. Out of the box there will be updates that will need to be downloaded to the console as well. A pain, kinda. But we are all familiar with computer updates. So live with it. If your not a patient person and want it now, you might be disspointed. I bought the 500GB console. Games played now have to be stored on the console so the more games you play the more storage space your going to need . Good thing is you can purchase an external hard drive and attache it to the console. I don’t think that was possible with the earlier xbox 360.I don’t play lots of games so I don’t think the 500Gb drive will be a problem but it’s good to know I’m not restricted if I want to save more games in the future. The other things I like about the xbox one is since I’m a amazon prime member I’m able to access my account through the amazon app on the console. This gives me access to watch movies. Pretty cool. There are also a lot of other apps like Hulu, Netflix and so on. Like I mentioned. internet connectivity is not a bad thing. So overall I’m satisfied with the purchase. Just keep in mind my life isn’t this device. My expectations are modest. it does what I want and more.Your expectations might be greater than mine. Do your research. Make sure this does what you want. Last thing as a prime member I ordered it on a Friday afternoon and it was promptly delivered on Sunday. Gotta love it.
Microsoft does it again! but…lack of games?
Amazing. blown away by the graphics, and I have a gaming PC! So much for pc gaming master race, now I dont have to mess around with drivers and wrong graphics settings, just install game and play. GTA has improved visuals from my gaming pc, and i have a radeon r7 260x at high settings. also pc vs console, console has a more consistent online experience and community. I love pc gaming for the customization and openness it offers, but that often comes at a price.
Great package combo! Hubby loves it!
Drastically smaller from the original X1. Amazing 4k video support with a 4k TV. Upscale pretty noticeable on some games. No more power brick internal power! Ir blaster which helps out. The eject and power are actually buttons!! No swipe. Lastly the controller has Bluetooth and it feels more sturdy. The joysticks have slightly better feedback I feel. Amazing value for the price!
More than just a game console….
My family loves this gaming system. Obviously my husband, the gamer, loves the ability to play the x box one games. He has also gotten really into all the free downloadable games, and he can fit several of these on the console at once with the 500GB. I am not much of a gamer, but I love that you can download a Netflix and Pandora app. There is so much that this game console can do because it links to the computer, so it has really become more of a complete entertainment system than just a gaming console.
I liked this Xbox
I liked this Xbox, the space is ample, I wished however they all started with the 1TB console, the 500GB is great for those who do not do lots and lots of downloads (you can always buy and external harddrive if you need it for extra space), but this console will hold a decent bit, depending on what you load it with. My only complaint I have with the Xbox is it’s very buggy and glitchy, it’s in need of major software updates, I’ve had freezing problems and controller issues, which caused me to have to restart the console which has happened within the first week of owning it and is still a problem, would I recommend the Xbox One? I would recommend it, it is a lot of fun, I just find it a bit cheaply made and the software rushed out the door to meet deadlines for Microsoft. Lastly if you’re on the fence like I was with PS4 or Xbox One, go with the one that has most (or all in my case) friends on it and it wouldn’t hurt to see which titles are coming out for the system, for me titles were 50/50 for both consoles some on one and some on the other, so I went with who’s got more of my friends on it.
